Day 9 of the 30 Days of Prayer- An Invitation to Healing

Posted: Oct 08, 2020

Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire;
he breaks out against all sound judgment.
Proverbs 18:1

 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
James 5:16

Our churches are stuffed with isolated believers. We worship, listen to the sermon, then go home. One woman told me that she’d gone to church in tears, broken-hearted over family relationships, yet didn’t dare tell anyone because “church isn’t a safe place to share.” This is the fallout from performance-driven churches that teach and preach but don’t do God’s word. The answer is simple… when I speak at churches or other events I’ll break the flock up into groups of two for the purpose of sharing and praying for each other. It’s amazing to watch people come alive when this happens.

Yesterday was about your restoration; today is about your healing. Restoration and healing are two different things. You can be forgiven and restored by God, but the healing process, especially for deep wounds, often takes longer, and, requires that you share with “Jesus with skin on,” – one or more of His people.

Today I encourage you to share your failures, sin, or weaknesses with another brother or sister, have them do the same with you, and then pray for each other’s cleansing and healing. As a church we can pray that God breaks the stronghold of isolation all we want, but it’s not until we take the action steps He’s given us until that we’ll begin to experience the abundant life God offers.

Some of you may be thinking “I don’t know anyone I can share with.” If this is you, ask the Lord to bring to your mind the person He wants you to ask, then prayerfully wait and watch for His answer. It’s best that it’s not a family member.

I also challenge you to make James 5:16 your way of life, not just a one time event.

I have an article on how to make your church a safe church where your people can share openly here –
