Day 19 of the 30 Days of Prayer – God Restore Us!

Posted: Oct 16, 2020

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel,
you who lead Joseph like a flock.
You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh,
stir up your might
and come to save us!
Restore us, O God;
let your face shine, that we may be saved!

Psalm 80:1-3

In Psalm 80, the psalmist cries out “Restore us oh God!” three times, in verses 3, 7 and 19. Our countries have free-fallen into evil; if God doesn’t come through and “save us” as the psalmist wrote, this will be as good as gets for years to come. This should run cold shivers up your spine.

…and give rise to the need for urgency, for believers everywhere to cry out to God from their homes, places of business, and their churches. Now is the time to stop preaching about making our churches houses of prayer, and put God’s people on their knees during our weekend services! Anything less than fervent prayers from the heart for spiritual awakening won’t get it done.

And they said to me, The remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and shame. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire. As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
Nehemiah 1:3-4

The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James 5:16b

There is more to praying for restoration, as I get into in the video.
